GlassSKY is an organization dedicated to the empowerment and advancement of women in society. We believe that all girls and women should be able to dream as big as the sky, and that our world should be one in which they have the opportunities to achieve those dreams.
We advance our mission by working locally in Atlantic Canada and thinking globally across every sector, industry and age group. Here are just a few of our current projects:

- We fund micro loans to female entrepreneurs in developing countries who don’t have access to traditional banking systems. Learn more about the women we support here.

Women are the world’s most underserved—and undervalued—resource. At present, they make up 70% of the world’s poor and earn only 10% of its income, despite producing over half its food. Studies suggest that if women’s paid employment rates were raised to the same levels as men’s, per capita income in some of our fastest-growing economies would rise 20 percent by 2030. Studies also show that a woman is apt to invest her income in her family. Eighty cents of every dollar she earns goes toward health care, nutrition, and housing for her kids. – See more here.
Micro Loans
At GlassSKY, we believe that all women are connected, and we know that when one woman succeeds, we all do. That’s why we support female entrepreneurs in developing economies with micro loans.
Helping women achieve financial independence is critical to raise our global living standards and to build stronger economies. These women are often single mothers who — through a variety of circumstances – have become the sole caretaker and breadwinner for their families. They have little experience working outside of the home and no ability to access credit through traditional banking systems. Often, they face prejudice and discrimination, yet they persevere to provide a better livelihood for themselves and their children. So far, our efforts have provided 175 micro loans to women in 48 countries in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, South America and Europe. Our funding for these micro loans comes from the sale of our vintage jewelry – a business set up specifically to direct monies to female entrepreneurs who are trying to build a better life.
